So, I’ve gotten a few mail messages and emails about this topic, so here we go. *weeee* I am going to use my experience to explain how this works, so sit tight. =]
First of all, you have to pick a faction that you want to fight for. Most people are basing this off of which type of faction mount they want, or the type of gear (look) they want.
Faction Mounts
Gear- Bloodmage
Basically, once you fight for a city, there is no turning back. I say this because your faction will go into debt with many of the other cities, making you kill on site (otherwise, known as KoS). You can get your faction back via Diplomacy or killing mobs, so there is a way to get it back, but it’s a tough one. Gainning your enemies trust is hard.
Once you decide on your faction, you have to find the City Faction Registrar in that city. I went to Hathor Zhi because I want to represent the Dark Elves and all their honor! (Woot go Dark Elves yaya.. we rule!!)

Once you get to him, you will “Hail” him or her. They will ask if you are interested in fighting under their banner. You will then say “What would I gain?” Then you can read through the dialog and continue to see what she or he has to say to you. Finally, you will get the option to say “Sounds good. I wish to fight for this city.” If you wish to fight for that city, click that response and you will recieve a diplomacy necklace in your inventory.
This necklace is called an “Insignia”. You read about it when you went through the dialog. (If not, you can hail the NPC again and read it.) Each city has one. Mine says, “Insignia of Hathor Zhi”. You can only have one insignia at a time. You must WEAR the necklace in order to recieve the banner of this city. Once you wear it, you will get a buff that says, “Banner of Hathor Zhi”, but for whichever city you are with.
Then, you get to grind. This is a term used for killing lots and lots of mobs. *grins* The mobs that you are killing must give you experience in order to give you coins. The coins will immediately go into your inventory.
Where do you get coins? All mobs drop Copper and Silver coins of your city, if you are below level 30. All mobs drop Silver and Gold coins of your city, if you are level 30 and above. My coins will say “Silver (Gold, etc) Coin of Hathor Zhi”. Named mobs that have their name in all CAPITAL letters will drop you platinum coins of your city. All raid named mobs will drop “Ancient Platinum Coin”s. There is a chance for all of these, so you wont always get a coin off of every mob you kill.
Here is a link to Plat Coin Mobs and Where to Find Them.
What do you do with these coins now that you have them? Well, you bring them back to your City Faction Registrar. The Gold and Silver coins will give you faction with your city. Gold will give you 100 and Silver will gives you 10 faction points. Ancient Platinum Coins can be traded for platinum coins of any city that you choose to trade them for. Remember to use the “City Faction” in your Diplomacy tab, and not the chat screen to look for your City Faction. Some races start out in the negative for other races faction.
In order to get certain “gifts” from your city, you must have the right amount of faction.
Currently: (Please, feel free to toss in information if you have any. I will add more faction and gifts as they are put in game.)
1k = Ttier 1 Mount (Must be at least level 30)
1k to start [full set is 14k] = Level 50 Rare Armor
18k = Tier 2 Mount
18k = Pegasus Mount
Once you get the correct amount of faction, your City Faction Registrar will send you off to the next NPC that you need to speak to. That NPC will ask you for a specific amount of platinum coins in order to recieve the gift.
The current gifts and costs:
Tier 1 Mount =1k faction =50 Plat
Tier 2 Mount =18k faction =100 Plat
Pegasus =18k faction =400 Plat
Rare Armor(50) =14k [for full set] faction =200 Plat (for full set)
I hope this helped you. If you have any information to add, please send me a message or comment.
Sincerely,
~Luper the Dragonslayer

Excellent information, Luper! After hearing Beau’s belly-aching… er, I mean, uh… observation that it can be tricky to bag a faction mount, I’m glad to see solid, helpful information posted.
As always, your knowledge of the world of Vanguard is greatly appreciated!
Awe, that was very nice of you Burtimus!
Thanks,
~Luper
I didn’t bellyache, sir…
…I WHINED. BIG difference.

“You can get your faction back via Diplomacy or killing mobs, so there is a way to get it back, but it’s a tough one.”
I don’t think you can get “Citizens of faction” back through diplomacy? Can you get it by killing mobs?
maybe you should add the information that a lvl 50 mount costs 150 plat coins if one did not buy the lower one
